Opening Prayer:

Heavenly Father, as we gather be among us.

Soften in us what is hard.

Open in us what is closed.

Comfort in us what hurts.

Do these things so that we can allow your Spirit to draw our hearts toward you.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Warm Up Question:

Would you rather take a long walk alone or with someone else? Why or why not?

Read Luke 24:13-35

● What are these two people wrestling with in terms of their understanding?

● What would you say is their mental state? Emotional state? Spiritual state?

● Has there ever been a time when your questions were so big that your faith was hard to

maintain?

● Faith is not a straight line. What breaks, turns, or obstacles have made the walk of faith

uneven for you?

● What do you notice about the way Jesus comes alongside them? What do you notice

about the way he relates to them as they walk on the road to Emmaus?

● What does the way Jesus relates to them suggest about how Jesus walks with us?

● In the sermon Jonny said that Jesus walks at their pace. How would you describe the

pace of your faith walk right now? Slow, fast, average, stumbling?

● Is there a place where it is hard for you to recognize Jesus right now?
