Missio Garden Project

EST. 2024

The Missio Garden exist to serve our local community by growing & distributing fresh produce to our neibhors

A girl with long brown hair, wearing a green hoodie with a colorful patch on the back, black pants with a floral pattern, colorful sneakers, and gloves, is pushing a wheelbarrow filled with dried brown leaves on a sidewalk. There are other people and benches in the background.

The dream

Our dream is to transform all of Missio’s existing green space into gardens that serves our city by growing fresh produce, providing a welcoming environment, and reducing our water usage.

The progress

The Missio Garden Project is a big dream and will develop in stages. Here we will document our progress.

  • In March of 2024 Missio built and filled 6 new garden beds on the east side of the building.

  • After a particularly long cold snap Missio planted its first round of food yielding plants in the garden beds.

  • Missio was awarded 2 garden grants. The first was a micro food grant from SLC gov for $1,000. The second was the donation of 5 additional Vego Garden beds. In June we built, filled, and planted our new beds on the south side of the building, doubling our garden.

Thank you to all our wonderful partners who have made our garden dreams possible
