Weekly Update 2.28.19
One Sunday Service. This Sunday, we will meet for ONE family worship service at 10am (rather than having two services). This gives us the opportunity to be together, eat together, celebrate God and worship together. We look forward to seeing you there!
Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday is the start of a new season in the Church, a season that leads through Lent, Holy Week, and up to the Resurrection of Jesus on Easter. It’s a chance to orient our minds and prepare our hearts so that we can experience all that Jesus has done and is doing. This year for Ash Wednesday, we will gather as a community on March 6th, at 7pm to worship with art, song, and Scripture. Read more about Lent here.
The Peoples Theology. New episode out now with Leonce Crump former New Orleans Saint, founding pastor of Renovation Atlanta, and author of the book Renovate. Leonce's story is encouraging and challenging and will force us to ask some good questions about the life and work of Jesus' people. Subscribe at iTunes, Stitcher, or Google Play.
Childcare Volunteers for Ash Wednesday. We’re looking for a few volunteers to provide childcare for ages 0 to 5 during the Ash Wednesday service from 6:40pm to 8:30pm. If you’re interested, please email Kristin.
Orphan Care Conference. Join Risen Life Church this Saturday, March 2 from 9am-4pm for the second annual Orphan Care Conference as we discuss God’s heart and explore some of the opportunities by which the church can show God’s love for vulnerable children. Registration is open to the public and includes lunch: $25/individual, $40/couple. Register here or for more info email here.
Change For A Dollar. First Star is a non-profit that serves foster youth by supporting them through high school and on to higher education. 3 teenagers from Missio are currently in First Star and have been positively impacted through their programs. We can serve by helping some families with housing deposits and even winter coats. We'd like to have funds available to meet some of these needs as they arise. Click here, and select change for a dollar in the menu, to donate. Or if you are a mechanic willing to volunteer, email Jenny.
