Weekly Update 2.14.19
February 14, 2019
Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday is the start of a new season in the Church, a season that leads through Lent, Holy Week, and up to the Resurrection of Jesus on Easter. It’s a chance to orient our minds and prepare our hearts so that we can experience all that Jesus has done and is doing. This year for Ash Wednesday, we will gather as a community on March 6th, at 7pm to worship with art, song, and Scripture. You can read more about why we start Lent in this way here.
The Peoples Theology. Our history is full of communities of dissent that have revealed, if even for just a moment, the Kingdom of Jesus because they had no other option. We need to hear their stories because it helps us imagine our work and lives in light of the gospel. Subscribe at iTunes, Stitcher, or Google Play.
Change For A Dollar. First Star is a non-profit that serves foster youth by supporting them through high school and on to higher education. 3 teenagers from Missio are currently in First Star and have been positively impacted through their programs. We can serve by helping some families with housing deposits and even winter coats. We'd like to have funds available to meet some of these needs as they arise. Click here, and select change for a dollar in the menu, to donate. Or if you are a mechanic willing to volunteer, email Jenny.
Moving Help for The Costellos. As the Costellos get ready to move, we want to help them and make it an easy departure. There is need for help with cleaning, painting, and watching the kids. To volunteer this week or next, please email Annie.
Celebration Service. Join us February 24th to celebrate and send off the Costello family with worship, tacos, and desserts. We will be gathering together as one big family at 10am and will only have childcare for kids aged 0-5. Bring a dessert to share and join us in celebrating and sending the Costellos.
