Call & Reponse

Call: Judas, slave of jealousy, where are you?
Response: I am here.
Call: Peter, Slave of fear, where are you?
Response: I am here
Call: Thomas, slave of doubt, where are you?
Response: I am here
Call: Mary, slave of tragedy, where are you?
Response: I am here
Call: Caiaphas, slave of expediency, where are you?
Response: I am here.
Call: Pilate, slave of power, where are you?
Response: I am here.
Call: The story of Jesus’ passion confronts us with our own story. We are Peter, Judas, Marry, and Pilot. Their story is our story. Their tragedy and failures ours, but so to their hope because like them, in Jesus, we call this Friday good.

Confession

Prayer of Silent Confession:

Holy Father, today we kneel in the shadow of the cross
Struck by the horror of your sacrifice
And humbled by the depth of your grace.

Gracious God, today we confess our complicity in death
Our misplaced trust in power
And our hope in other promises.

Forgive us and teach us the way of grace.
Show us today that your love is more real than our tragedy.
Doubt
Fear
Complicity.

Remind us why we call this Friday good.
Amen.
