Weekly Update 2.8.18

Here's what's happening at Missio:

SHEMA: Sermon Series for 1 More Sunday

When you hear about God what's your usual response? How does what you hear impact what you do? The Bible has a specific way of calling followers of God to not just hear God but to respond to him. Over the next six weeks, we will be looking at the Bible to take inventory of how we hear and obey God. We will walk through specific words of the Bible that Jesus commands us to live and seek to follow him in doing so.

New Sermon Series: Scapegoat February 14th - March 25th

Why did Jesus die on a cross? That might sound like a simple or even silly question. All of us have heard, "Jesus died on the cross to forgive us of our sins," right? But that's where things get tricky because what does it actually mean? Throughout the season of Lent will be wrestling with this question, and what we'll find is that the answer is bigger and better than we ever imagined. Below you'll find a link to additional resources:

Ash Wednesday at 12pm and 7pm

Ash Wednesday is the start of a new season in the Church, a season that leads through Lent, Holy Week, and up to the Resurrection of Jesus on Easter. It’s a chance to orient our minds and prepare our hearts so that we can experience all that Jesus has done and is doing. You can read more about why we start Lent in this way HERE.

This year for Ash Wednesday, we will gather as a community on February 14th, at both 12pm and 7PM to worship with art, song, and Scripture. Everyone is invited. Children are welcome to join, but there will also be childcare for children 5 and under (Please note childcare will be limited for the 12pm service).

Parent's Night Out!

Ready for a  night out? Looking to celebrate Valentine's Day? February 10th, leave your kiddos with a group of college students who want to support your family and hang out with your kids! They'll enjoy pizza, movies and games. Register HERE

It's the first Sunday and the third Saturday of the month, 5pm to 7:30pm. A background check is required, so if you are in need of one, MIssio will gladly be able to do so.
