Weekly Update 1.25.18

Here's what's happening at Missio!

Sermon Series: SHEMA January 7-February 11

When you hear about God, what's your usual response? How does what you hear impact what you do? The Bible has a specific way of calling followers of God to not just hear God but to respond to him. Over the next six weeks, we will be looking at the Bible to take inventory of how we hear and obey God. We will walk through specific words of the Bible that Jesus commands us to live and seek to follow him in doing so.

Ash Wednesday- Wednesday, February 14th, 12 pm and 7 pm

Ash Wednesday is the start of a new season in the Church that leads through Lent, Holy Week, and up to the Resurrection of Jesus on Easter. It’s a chance to orient our minds and prepare our hearts so that we can experience all that Jesus has done and is doing. You can read more about why we start Lent in this way here with our introduction to Lent. This year for Ash Wednesday, we will gather as a community on February 14th, at both 12 PM and 7 PM to worship with art, song, and Scripture. Everyone is invited. Children are welcome to join, but there will also be childcare available as follows: Noon service- Limited childcare on a first come first serve basis; 7:00pm service-Children's ministry for children 5 and under. We'll be doing activities focused around spiritual practices to introduce children to Lent.

Parent-Child Guidance Class

Parents and Caregivers, you are invited to a new and ongoing 6 week parent-child guidance class inspired by the RIE® parenting model (rie.org). This class will seek to support parents/caregivers and young children alike in their unique selves and their ever developing relationship from the very start. The first 6 week class will specifically be for mobile babies (crawling & toddling) and their parent/caregiver.  It will begin with a required parent/caregiver only orientation on Friday, February 2nd, 10-11:30am in the Missio toddler classroom, and will continue on Fridays for 6 week sessions beginning February 16th, 10:00-11:30am.  For more information about the class and to see if this is a good fit for you, click HERE.
